Small thing, but one that always bothers me when I look at attributes of weapons...
I humbly request (read: demand) that all instances of the word 'clip' (outside of where it is appropriate IE: 'clipping') be replaced by the technically accurate term 'magazine'. For the simple reason that using 'clip' perpetuates ignorance, and while very common in video games, and in real life, to refer to magazines, it is incorrect.
A Gek-38 does not have a clip. It has a magazine.
A swarm launcher does not have a clip. It has a magazine.
etc, etc.
This may seem frivolous, and may even cause a handful of Dust players to scratch their heads thinking "magazine wtf?", but in the long run, I think it will benefit the game and society as a whole. Do it for the children.
I'm sure it isn't as simple as enter database, find (clip) replace with (magazine), but think about it |

Drums are magazines.

Hate to break this to you but thousands of years from now language might have changed a little.
I refuse to believe in a future where there aren't perfectionists correcting others' grammar.
I simply refuse.

Precisely correct is better than precisely incorrect
On a more serious note, however, I like Dust quite a bit, and I think it's a smart enough game to not drink the video game koolaid of using the incorrect term.
It doesn't bother me when action games that have you dual wielding Desert Eagles and AK's while skydiving call magazines clips. They aren't games that are intended to be taken seriously.
Dust, to me, comes off as "Hey, we are a more serious, more meaningful shooter than your average CoD or Halo clone". It comes off as a 'smart' game. A smart game that has an incorrect term in all of its weapons' attributes.
It is entirely possible that in the future of EVE, magazines are called clips (disregarding the fact that every other facet of the English language remains intact), but on the off chance that it is an oversight of game development, or a term not set in stone for Dust, this thread was made.
May not matter to you, that's cool. Reload dem clips, yo. |
